One of the most important things in training a horse is to teach it to be confident both mentally and physically, and both under saddle and on the ground. Emily's training methods begin on the ground with natural horsemanship techniques to establish boundaries and body language, and to help the horse learn to step correctly underneath itself and to lighten the forehand.

Starting/finishing is available in Classical Dressage, Western Dressage, Hunter, Jumping, Gymkhana and Western Pleasure, as well as Pleasure Driving. Emily also has extensive experience with working with foals to develop the framework for obedient and sane starting.

Each horse is unique in the way it perceives its interactions with humans, so training and goals must be fluid and adaptive, with the horse's peace of mind as the highest priority. Emily has experienced success in working with horses of all backgrounds, from untouched foals to abuse cases, and from hyper-sensitive horses with intense anxiety to horses in need of re-sensitization to the aids.

Emily currently has a waiting list for training horses, but is happy to discuss options if you are interested. Training slots are offered first to boarders at Meadowlark Equestrian Center.
